See you later South Orange

As much as we all love the small town feel of South Orange Village, sometimes it’s nice to get away from campus and explore new territory. Taking off for New York City may seem like the easiest option but it isn’t the only one. There’s a bunch of fun and exciting things to do right here in New Jersey.

Luckily, Seton Hall is located close to the South Orange train station, which makes getting to and from these little adventures a lot easier. Seton Hall also provides a Zip Car service that gives you many more opportunities for travel. You can easily hop on the next train into Hoboken and explore Carlo’s Bakery and just across the street authentic Mexican food at Los Churritos.

Senior Jessica Wolk said: “My friends and I will use going to Churritos as an excuse to go into Hoboken. The food is THAT good.”

Senior Tamica Penn raved about another restaurant, Cuban Pete’s, which she said “is an amazing restaurant in Montclair but when you’re there it feels like you’re actually in Cuba because of the décor.”

If you’re looking for a new cinematic and dining experience, you can drive to Paramus to visit the Garden State 16 that provides restaurant-style dining while enjoying your favorite film.

Be sure to stop by the Funplex in East Hanover with various group packages and even special pricing if you want to turn it into an all-day activity. In the neighborhood of the Funplex are also the various shopping centers on Route 10 which is a popular hotspot.Along the road are stores like Michael’s and Five Below, along with places that are hard to categorize, like Chuck E. Cheese’s.

If you’re looking to try something new and different, you can take a trip to Monster Mini Golf which is famous for their glow-in-the-dark arena. It’s perfect for an intimate date night or just a fun night out with friends. There are six locations in New Jersey including Union and Fairfield.

In West Orange, there is the Eagle Rock Reservation, which is a 408-acres of trails, wildlife, ponds, a 9/11 memorial and a beautiful view of Manhattan.

“Eagle Rock is the perfect place to get away when you need to relax,” Senior Ludmilla Perez said.
