Seton Hall's a cappella group, the Gentlemen of the Hall, has garnered praise for its performances, an achievement for a group that has been together for a little less than one year, its president said.
Junior Luke Lachac, a founder of the organization, said the group has progressed beyond their wildest dreams.
"I am wholly proud to be president of such an incredible musical group and honored to be able to sing with an incredible group of men" Lachac said.
The Gentlemen of the Hall participated in an a cappella showcase at SUNY New Paltz on Nov. 8, their first intercollegiate invitational event.
This event featured several a cappella acts, many of which have been together for more than a decade.
Despite their relvant inexperience, the Gentlemen of the Hall made their mark and stood out amongst a very seasoned group of talent, according to Lachac.
"I could not have imagined it having gone better," Lachac said. "While we have a lot to learn from the more experienced a cappella groups there, our performance met a standard that most would not expect from a less than 1-year-old group to hit."
The group's music director, Kevin Scimecca, composed all three songs the group performed at the SUNY New Paltz showcase.
The Gentlemen of the Hall's performances can be viewed on YouTube. Open tryouts for the group are held during the first month of each semester for anyone interested.
