The men's cross country team looked to finish in a better place than they did at the Leopard Invitational in Easton, Pa., on Saturday. It was the teams first time this season on a five-mile course and their final meet before the Big East Championship.
The Pirates finished in ninth place out of 12. The impressive finish could not have come at a better time for the team that has the Big East Championships quickly approaching.
Sophomore Ryan Flannery came in first for the men for the second time this season finishing with a time of 27:25:10 and 57th overall, a huge turnaround after an injury held him back at the Metropolitan Championships.
Head coach John Moon said he is happy with his turnaround.
"Ryan came alive on Saturday and I'm happy that he's back and healthy," Moon said.
The men concluded the regular season recording four second-place finishes.
The women finished in 12th place but senior Nyala Eddings had another solid performance finishing in the top 25 once again. Eddings continues to be the leading force for the women's club, finishing with a season-best run of 23:08:04. She has been the top Pirate finisher in every meet this season.
