The Student Activities Board kicked off the school year this weekend with Fall Fest, a concert featuring popular artists Karmin, Any Grammer and Bryce Vine.
The concert encouraged a safe, sober and exciting experience for students as a response to Seton Hall's negative publicity after 13 students were hospitalized last semester for intoxication during the 2013 Spring Fling, which featured B.O.B and GrooveBoston.
Students received an email from Vice President of Student Services Tracy Gottlieb preceding this semester's concert to outline changes implemented for future events.
"[I] agreed to try one more time to create a fun, safe party atmosphere here at Seton Hall," Gottlieb wrote in the email sent on Sept. 12. "Your Student Activities Board worked hard over the summer to land bands whose entertainment can be enjoyed without a buzz on. I think they made some great choices for you."
As the event started, students seemed to agree as they filled the Galleon Lawn in excitement to see Karmin, Grammer, and Vine. After the performances, students met and took pictures with the popular artists.
Sophomore Andreana Barnett said she was excited.
"I would say one of the best parts was getting to meet the artists because they were so down to earth," Barnett said.
Students raved about each of the artists. Freshman Caleb Wilkie noted, "Karmin had a wicked lot of energy."
