Young alum honored with SHU ROPE award

Seton Hall's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America will present the "ROPE in Success Award" for exemplary mentoring skills on April 18.

The award will be presented to Ashley Manz of Beckerman Public Relations during the 2013 ROPE in Success event in the Chancellor's Suite of the University Center at 6:30 p.m. Seton Hall will also celebrate earning international accreditation for its public relations program.

The winner of the award is chosen by the PRSSA chapter by votes. Past recipients of the ROPE in Success Award include President of Coyne Public Relations Tom Coyne and President and CEO of MWW Group Michael Kemper.

Manz graduated from Seton Hall in 2012 and works as an account executive and social media coordinator at Beckerman Public Relations. Through various mentoring activities, she said she continues to give back to the public relations program.

"The students recognize the time I have given to help further their education and careers," Manz said.

Manz said she will continue to teach classes, help students find internships and critique students' public relations campaigns in and outside of the classroom.

The ROPE Award is named after the four main parts of a public relations strategy: research, objectives, programming and evaluation. It is given each year to one person who has given back to Seton Hall public relations students.
