After 21-year-old "Buckwild" star Shain Gandee died suddenly at the beginning of the month, MTV executives confirmed that the show will not continue for a second season, much to the frustration of cast members and fans.
MTV said in a statement they "felt it was not appropriate to continue without him" and are "working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately." A subsequent tribute to Gandee aired Sunday before the MTV Movie Awards.
But despite the tribute, cast members including Cara Parrish are not happy about MTV's decision. Parrish tweeted, "I think MTV should show reality. Losing Shain broke all our hearts. I want to #KeepBuckwildForShain..."
The hashtag quickly took off and fans rallied to show their support of the cast and crew. One producer even promised not to let the show end without a fight and potentially will continue filming his own version of the reality show in the future.
