If you knew nothing about AMC's edgy, Emmy Award-winning series "The Walking Dead" but decided to watch the mid-season premiere of season three on Feb. 10, you would be just as hooked as a diehard fan. Starring Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus and Laurie Holden, the show's early 2013 return was easily one of the most anticipated of all time.
With the departure of co-creator and writer Glen Mazzara from the show, fans had many questions about how "The Walking Dead" would bounce back from the loss of such an integral member. But if there is one thing the show is known for; it is having no fear of dispensing key characters at a moment's notice and moving forward to bigger and better things.
The post-apocalyptic drama is centered on a small band of survivors led by Lincoln's character, Rick Grimes. Not only does Grimes' group continuously fend off zombies from their prison compound home base in season three, but they also clash with the governor and people of Woodbury, who set up their own mini civilization just a few miles away.
Season three offers multiple storylines for viewers to keep up with and will them asking for more and more each them week. The Dixon brothers are finally reunited after two years, but how long will they last Carol cope with Daryl remaining loyal to his brother instead of her? What kind of dynamic will the new band of survivors who found their way into the prison bring to "The Walking Dead?" Fans of the series have burning questions but should rest assured that they will all be answered in the remaining seven episodes of the half season.
Although the show is not for the faint of heart, there is something in this drama for everyone. From intense dialogues, shoot outs and psychological twists and turns, if you can get past the gory prosthetic effects done by top-notch makeup artists, "The Walking Dead" is an irresistible hour of television.
