Construction going on next to the Arts & Sciences building, alongside the back entrance to the cafeteria.
John Signorello, associate vice president of facilities and operations this was because a pipe sprung a leak, according to him.
He said he had been keeping particular watch on this pipe because it was "presumed to go."
Signorello said he maintains a list of campus facilities that need to be upgraded, and this pipe is one of them.
"It was slated to be (repaired) this summer, but the pipe had another plan," Vice President of Administration Dennis Garbini said.
The pipe sprung a leak over Winter break, forcing the University to begin construction on it earlier than planned.
