The two men arrested in the September 2010 shooting that resulted in the death of Seton Hall sophomore Jessica Moore will be in court Monday pretrial motions before New Jersey Superior Court Judge Peter Ryan on Monday.
Nicholas Welch, alleged gunman, and Marcus Bascus, his alleged accomplice, were arrested the week of Sept. 28, 2010, after Moore was killed at a Sept. 24 party at East Orange in which Welch opened fire.
According to Kathy Carter, Essex County Prosecutor's Office press agent, Welch's trial is set to begin on April 29.
Both Welch and Bascus will be escorted out of Essex County Jail to address any joint issues at 9 a.m. on Monday before Ryan. Then they will have their separate cases addressed if necessary, according to Carter.
Although they will both appear before Ryan, their cases are still not considered linked, Carter said.
Welch, of East Orange, is charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, burglary and additional weapons charges.
Bascus, also of East Orange, is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, four counts of attempted murder and additional weapons charges.
