Owen T. Carroll Field will have a look this baseball season as a state-of-the-art scoreboard will be up and running by March.
It will replace the old ones, which were installed in 1974.
Also, now there will be only one scoreboard at the field used for both sports instead of separate ones for baseball and soccer.
Originally the plan was to have it installed before the start of the soccer season but it had to be delayed, according to Bryon Felt, Associate Athletic Director, Development and External Affairs.
According to Felt, the project was pushed back to focus on the renovations to the Recreation Center and to receive the necessary funding.
He said the $225,000 cost was completely covered through private donations to the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund.
The scoreboard will feature a pixel matrix of 20mm, with a display of 13'-10" x 19'-0" x 28'-0."
