The Big East lost another member on Tuesday with Rutgers announcing their plans to join the Big Ten on Tuesday after 21 years in the conference.
Rutgers is the fifth school to depart from the Big East joining Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia. West Virginia has already left while Pittsburgh and Syracuse are leaving after the year ends with Notre Dame leaving in 2014.
They are targeting 2014 as their first season of play in the Big Ten because of the Big East's bylaws requiring a 27 month waiting period and $10 million exit fee for leaving the conference.
Additions have been made to the Big East with Temple, Memphis, Houston, SMU and UCF joining as all sport members at the end of the year.
