In the week of the men's basketball season opener against UMKC, the Pirates might receive some good news. Sophomore point guard Aaron Cosby could potentially play in the first game of the season after suffering a PCL injury in practice.
Doctors will reevaluate Cosby Friday morning to judge if he is ready for game play.
Cosby was originally ruled out for 4-6 weeks, but has made enough progress to be considered for the team's season opener.
After playing most of his freshman year at shooting guard, Cosby is going to be looked at as one of the players to replace Jordan Theodore as point guard. Sophomore Freddie Wilson and freshman Tom Maayan are also fighting for the spot
Cosby averaged 7.9 points per game during his freshman year while leading the team in 3-pointers made, attempted and field goal percentage from beyond the arc.
With Theodore and Herb Pope gone, Cosby is only behind junior Fuquan Edwin in minutes played and points per game returning.
