The cross country season came to an end last week when the women's and men's teams traveled to Cortland Park in the Bronx for the Big East Championship, where the women's team finished in 14th place, their highest finish in eight years, and the men finished in 14th for the fourth consecutive year.
The day was ultimately won by Georgetown on the women's side and by Syracuse on the men's side.
The women ran in a field consisting of 126 runners. Seton Hall's top finisher of the day was senior Hughnique Rolle in 77th place, her best finish at the event, at a time of23:40.78.
The rest of the Pirates were Nyala Edding in 85th, May Migton in 94th, Amanda Quaglia in 101st, Kristen May in 120th, Alex Ryan in 121st, Samantha Young in 123rd, Christina Chafos in 124th, and Marigot Lustyk in 125th. First place overall belonged to Emily Lipari of Villanova with a time of 20:45.33.
On the men's side, the team finished last out of 15 teams. The top Pirate was Jared Hanko, who has led the men's team this entire season, in 80th place with a time of 27:18.57. The remainder of the team placing in the field of 114 was Ryan Flannery in 93rd, Carl Johnston in 106th, Tyler Orner in 108th, Corey Hellwig 109th, Jacob Best in 110th, Tony Cramond in 113th and Joseph Martinelli in 114th.
