P!NK delivers the honest truth about her rocky relationship with husband Carey Hart in her sixth album, "The Truth About Love," which was released Sept. 18, 2012.
While P!NK's new album contains infectious pop singles that she is so well known for, including "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)," which reached NO. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album features slower ballads that showcase her range and moving lyrics.
Songs like "Try" and "The Great Escape" give listeners a sad glimpse into P!NK's feelings regarding her breakup, while encouraging them that "the passion and pain are gonna keep you alive someday," and that the best thing to do is move on.
In "Beam Me Up," P!NK reveals her softer side, asking (who we can assume to be Carey Hart) to "Beam me up, let me be lighter, I'm tired of being a fighter. I think a minute's enough..." While many of her songs focus on the anger of breaking up, this song captures the pain of missing someone, which many people can relate to.
While listeners familiarized with P!NK's upbeat dance songs may not appreciate her guitar and piano accompanied ballads, the album sprinkles in fun, sarcastic songs with strong beats like "Walk of Shame" that are reminiscent of songs from earlier albums, such as "Stupid Girls" and "Cuz I Can."
Duets with guest artists Lily Rose Cooper and Eminem also add variety to the album. Specifically, the track "Just Give Me a Reason" with Nate Ruess of Fun, successfully blends her strong beats with Ruess's folksy voice in one of the most memorable tracks on the entire album.
Overall, P!NK's "The Truth About Love" balances just the right amount of dance tunes and power ballads about her relationship that many listeners may find refreshing and enlightening.
