Men's soccer loses two in Old Dominion Tournament

The men's soccer team was dominated at the Old Dominion tournament in Norfolk, Va. by VCU on Sunday and No. 15 Old Dominion on Friday. The Pirates were outscored 11-1.

Seton Hall fell to Virginia Commonwealth University, by the score of 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.

VCU junior forward Jason Johnson scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute.

Seton Hall responded quickly with a converted penalty kick by junior Max Garcia two minutes later.

The remainder of the offensive game, though, was all VCU who scored goals in the 41st, 60th, 67th and 79th minutes.

Junior goalkeeper Kevin Bonder made 6 saves in the game for the Pirates.

Tournament host No. 15 Old Dominion University shut out the Pirates on Friday by the score of 6-0. All six of the goals were scored in the second half of the game.

The Monarch's held the Pirates to only one shot on goal for the game, which was taken by Garcia.

Junior forward Tim Hopkinson earned a hat trick for Old Dominion scoring goals in the 48th, 53rd and 78th minutes. Hopkinson also had two assists in the game.

Seton Hall goalkeeper Michael Kuzan made four saves on 10 shots on goal.

The Monarchs scored six goals for the first time since 2003.

The Pirates bring a season record of 2-4 into their next game Friday against Monmouth University at 7 p.m. at Owen T. Carroll Field.
