At halftime in the Pirates' opening game of the Big East Championship against Providence, the Hall holds a 36-23 lead.
The Pirates are led by freshman Brandon Mobley with 11 points and five rebounds with senior Jordan Theodore adding nine points and five assists.
Freshman LaDontae Henton led the Friars with seven points in the half.
The Hall struggled offensively in the first five minutes of the half going without a point and falling behind the Friars 9-0.
Sophomore Fuquan Edwin made a 3-pointer for the Hall's first points with 15:01 remaining. After another Friar basket the Pirates went on a 23-3 run. Aided by a 3-pointrer from freshman Aaron Cosby to tie the game at 11-11, sophomore Patrik Auda converted an old-fashion three point play, giving thhe Hall their first lead with 11:15 to go.
Holding a 16-11 lead, Henton made one of two free for Providence to cut into the Pirates lead but the Pirates would continue their run to 21-12 with Mobley hitting a jumper.
With 1:32 remaining in the half Theodore made both free throws in a one and one giving the Pirates a 15 point lead, their biggest of the half. Sophomore Bryce Cotton would come down the court and make a 3-pointer cutting into the lead and would add one free throw with 27 second left.
However, four players picked up at least two fouls in the half for the Pirates with Theodore, senior Herb Pope and Edwin all having two fouls with Auda picking up three.
