Leading her team to a 2-1 record at the Paradise Jam, senior Jasmine Crew has been named Big East Women's Basketball player of the week.
During the three game tournament, Crew lead all scorers averaging 24.3 points per game.
Crew is the first Pirate to earn this honor from the conference since Noteisha Womack won it in December of 2007.
She also earned the Eastern College Athletic Cconference Player of the Week award on Tuesday.
Her biggest game of the tournament came against Louisiana Tech where Crew set a new career high with 35 points, while going 16-21 from the line.
Both totals set new single game records for the Paradise Jam.
The 35 points against the Lady Techsters is also the most points scored in a game by any women's basketball player in the Big East this season.
"I'm taking each game one game at a time, focusing on what it takes to win each individual game, and working hard every practice and having the things that we do in practice carry over into the game," Crew said. "Those are the important things in order to continue to win."
Following her opening performance, Crew once again led the Pirates in scoring against Alabama while playing all 45 minutes in the overtime loss.
Crew scored 17 points in the overtime loss including seven of the Hall's final 10 points in regulation to send the game into overtime.
In the final game of the tournament Crew added another 21 points to lead all players in a win versus Old Dominion.
Part of those 21 points came off of a perfect 8-8 performance at the free throw line and 6-14 shooting from the field.
For the tournament, Crew set a new three game records for free throws made and attempted going 29-34 from the line for 85 percent, while shooting 36 percent from the field.
On the season Crew, leads the team with 20.9 points per game and has been the highest scorer for the Pirates in six of their seven games this season.
Where Crew has been most impressive this year is from the free throw line.
She has taken more than 2.5 times the number of attempts as the next player on the team and has converted on 45 of her 51 attempts.
Crew has also spent more time on the court than any other member of the team, playing over 37 minutes a game.
This is her second season with the Pirates after transferring from Northeastern following the 2008-09 season.
In her first season at the Hall, Crew led the team in scoring with 11.6 points a game and finished in the top 10 in the conference in free throw percentage.
The Pirates next play on the road against Hofstra, Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
