Campus loses all electrical power

Power appears to be fully restored as of 3:03 p.m. after a local power failure affecting electrical feeds to Seton Hall occurred shortly after 1 p.m. today.

According to a representative from PSE&G at 3:30 p.m., the power outage was caused by an "overhead issue," which means that there was a malfunction in the overhead wiring that gives power to the school.

Also according to the representative, overhead issues occur for a variety of reasons and power has also been restored to the town of South Orange.

According to a Pirate Alert sent out around 1:30 p.m., other areas in South Orange were experiencing outages as well.

Despite the power outage, the campus' wireless network remained up and running.

According to a Pirate Alert phone call at 2:50 p.m., all evening classes are currently scheduled and not cancelled.

The alert did not give an estimate to the time power would be restored.
