Seton Hall is not exactly known for hosting a wide-variety of concerts on campus. But on Saturday, Oct. 1, Woodbridge, N.J.'s Audio Insight will be headlining University Weekend as they rock the University Green at 2 p.m.
According to drummer Dan Sullivan, it was Seton Hall radio station WSOU that helped bring the band to campus. The band credits WSOU with much of their success, with vocalist and guitarist Anthony Celi saying that the station, "really helped [them] out."
The band's music has been on regular rotation at the station since January.
"It's funny because I listen to SOU regularly and I was in the car one day and with a bunch of people and so we are just sitting there and my friend next to me tells me to listen and she turned it up and I was just like ‘Oh that's pretty cool,'" said Celi in regards to the first time he heard Audio Insight being played on the radio.
Sullivan agreed that hearing his music on the radio was a notable experience.
"It is actually really weird to be on the radio," he said. "I remember once it was us and then Killswitch (Engage) and that was awesome."
The band won a slot at the Break contest—a large-scale battle of the bands—and were given the opportunity to play at the Bamboozle Festival at Giants Stadium this past May.
"For me, it was cool because my friends always say to me, ‘Why aren't you the one up there?' and this time I was," said Sullivan, who had attended the festival in the past.
The band will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of their album "Dimensions" this October, as well as the two-year anniversary of their coming together as a group.
"I met him [Celi] and he liked playing music and I had always known Dan as a musician so we just kind of got together and it took off from there," said bassist Mike Deverin about how the band came together.
Since their formation, they have played venues throughout the area, as well as a show at the Mall of America in Minnesota.
Later this month, they will be returning to the studio to record what Celi termed "a special track, since the album came out a year ago, to kind of tide people over."
In addition to shows scheduled throughout New Jersey and New York in the coming months, the band plans to go on tour this summer. Celi said that the band just wants to continue gaining momentum.
"The only way to go is up," Celi said.
