The women's soccer team remains undefeated after a 1-1 tie in double over time against Lehigh.
From the first whistle, Seton Hall possessed the ball for the majority of the game, out shooting the Mountain Hawks 17-9.
In the first half, junior goalkeeper Jennifer Pettigrew punted the ball down the field after a Lehigh corner kick. The ball bounced over several Mountain Hawk defenders and landed in the feet of sophomore forward Katie Ritter.
As Ritter dribbled towards the goal, Lehigh freshman goal keeper Ashley Banks dove on the ball, but it slipped out of the goalie's hands and Ritter scored easily to give the Pirates a 1-0 edge 17 minutes into the game.
Lehigh came roaring up field, evening the game at 1-1 two minutes after the Pirates scored. After a corner kick, there was a scramble for the ball in the goal box. Lehigh junior forward Isabelle Li got to the ball before Pettigrew could, kicking it across the goal line.
In the 21st minute, the Pirates almost experienced a déjà vu that gave them the first point on the board. Off the bounce from Pettigrew's punt, Ritter was there again but the Mountain Hawks swarmed in to defend its goal.
Four minutes into the second half, Seton Hall was still on the attack. Just outside the box Lehigh junior forward Ardyn Olszko was given a yellow card for fouling Ritter. Off the free kick, both teams were scrambling for control of the ball inside the box. Senior midfielder Caitlyn Milazzo came out with the ball, but Banks was there for the diving save.
Throughout the second half, the Pirates had multiple scoring opportunities, out shooting the Mountain Hawks 8-2. Most of those shots, however, landed high or wide. Both teams continued firing shots in the two over times, but neither could find the back of the net.
"Sometimes that sticking the ball in the net is a difficult thing," head coach Kazbeck Tambi said. "There are times like tonight where we have enough good chances and none of them want to go in the net, so that's the nature of the game."
Seton Hall looks to continue their three game win streak as they travel to West Point this weekend for a tournament, which includes games against Army and Colgate.
