Deadlocked jury causes mistrial in Whitney case

Due to a deadlocked jury, the trial of former Seton Hall basketball player Kelly Whitney has been declared a mistrial, according to Kathy Carter, Director of Public Information at the Essex County Prosecutor's office.

"The jury has been unable to reach an agreement in the case and a mistrial has been declared by the judge," Carter said.

Despite the mistrial, Carter said that the state is "eager to retrial the case".
