Emergency response exercise to be held May 24

Seton Hall University, in accordance with emergency response agencies from the Village of South Orange and Essex County, will be conducting an Emergency Response Exercise, Tuesday May 24, according to a broadcast email sent by Student Affairs.

The University community and local residents were notified to prevent worry between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the time the test will be held.

Residents of surrounding areas may notice a greater number of emergency response vehicles entering the campus that day, according to the email.

The email said that the exercise is being held to determine the capabilities of both the University and selected municipal and county emergency service agencies in the event there is an active shooter present on campus.

The exercise will also gauge their preparedness by providing a valuable joint training opportunity, according to the email.
