New details regarding Thursday night armed robbery revealed

An investigation by the South Orange Police Department and the Department of Public Safety and Security has shown the armed robbery of two University students did not occur at the Wilden Gate, as previously reported.

"It is now believed that the robbery occurred two blocks away on Wilden Place opposite Eder Terrace in front of the last house in South Orange before Ivy Hill," Christie said.

Originally, a PirateAlert sent around 12:50 a.m. early Friday morning warned the University community of an armed robbery that occurred at the Wilden Gate.

A subsequent broadcast email sent at 1:13 a.m. said two University students were robbed at gunpoint by two male suspects while entering the Wilden Gate at approximately 11:50 p.m. Thursday night.

According to Christie, the South Orange police and Public Safety are continuing their investigation of the incident.
