Gun charges filed against junior Jordan Theodore, a member of the men's basketball team, have been dropped, according to a release today by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The charges stemmed from a Feb. 15 incident that allegedly involved ex-men's basketball player Keon Lawrence.
It allegedly occurred on-campus outside Xavier Hall.
Shortly after the gun charges went public in a story on SNY.tv, Dr. Laura Wankel, vice president of Student Affairs, said in a statement that Theodore had not broken any University rules.
"The University has conducted an investigation into this matter and found no student in violation of University policy," Wankel said in the statement. "The University takes seriously any report that potentially threatens the safety and well-being of our community."
According to the release from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, "...detectives conducted an investigation of the incident. As the investigation concluded, a determination was made that there is insufficient credible evidence to warrant prosecution."
