ROSEMONT, ILL. - Life without Jeremy Hazell is officially over for the Hall.
A 23 point effort by the Pirates' star guard propelled Seton Hall to a 78-67 win over DePaul at the Allstate Arena on Wednesday night.
Forward Herb Pope added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists before fouling out in the second half. Guard Jordan Theodore, perhaps more comfortable in the point guard role with Hazell's return, dropped in 10 points and four assists.
Seton Hall played a sloppy first half, laden with turnovers and hot-and-cold shooting.
However, a strong second half run exposed the Blue Demons' weak full-court press. Easy lay-ups and multiple three point plays after DePaul fouls helped the lead grow.
Finally, an alley-oop from guard Keon Lawrence to the returning Hazell late in the second half all but sealed the win.
The Pirates will now take its 8-9 (2-3, Big East) record to Pitt for a Saturday matchup. According to a spokesperson for Seton Hall athletics, the team will stay on the road and travel direct to Pitt, as classes have yet to resume on the campus.
