Hazell cleared to resume play

Senior guard Jeremy Hazell will suit up for the first time since mid-November tonight when the Pirates face the DePaul Blue Demons on the road.

Head coach Kevin Willard announced the decision allowing him to play earlier today following consultations with medical professionals and guidance from Hazell's family.

"We are extremely happy with the decision that Jeremy and his family made to return to the court this season," Willard said. "He has meant so much to the Seton Hall community over the last four years. We're looking forward to having him back in uniform tonight."

The initial injury occurred on Nov. 19 in the opening game of the Paradise Jam tournament against Alabama. In addition to the broken scaphoid bone that resulted, Hazell has also been recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered under his right arm during an attempted robbery on Christmas Day while home in Harlem.

Leading up to today's decision, there had been much discrepancy centered on when Hazell would return to action, whether or not he would return at all and the possibility of him redshirting for the remainder of the season.

Hazell enters tonight's matchup on only a day and a half of practice, including today's shoot-around. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m.
