Seton Hall senior guard Jeremy Hazell underwent surgery today to repair the broken scaphoid bone in his left wrist, according to head coach Kevin Willard.
After a week of natuarl healing, surgery was performed by Dr. Scott Wolfe at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City to minimize any possible long-term damage and to provide an opportunity for a hastened recovery time.
"Now that the surgery has been performed, we're looking forward to Jeremy having a full recovery," Willard said. "Our first and foremost priority is his long-term outlook, but obviously we'll be happy to have him back on the court as soon as possible."
Hazell broke his wrist during the Pirates' opening round game at the Paradise Jam against Alabama. The initial prognosis said that Hazell would be out four to six weeks. No new timetable was made available for Hazell's potential return.
Prior to his injury, Hazell had been averaging 24 points per game while shooting over 50 percent from the floor.
