A career-best scoring performance from junior forward Kandice Green helped the Pirates to pull away with a 73-67 overtime win against William and Mary this afternoon in Williamsburg, Va.
Green scored 31 points in the contest that were matched with 23 rebounds, shooting 9-of-21 from the field and 13-of-18 from the charity stripe.
Freshman guard Ka-Deidre Simmons also finished the game in double-digits with 13 points.
The Pirates trailed by seven at halftime, but with a little over five minutes remaining in regulation, they found themselves down only a point, 55-54.
A three from Simmons evened the score at 61 with 2:58 to go before both teams would get another basket each to end the second half at 63-63.
Junior forward Whitney Wood, freshman guard Jazzmine Johnson and Green all scored in the overtime period to prevent the Tribe from coming within four.
