Pirates bounce back to take down Delaware State

Not many games become urgent in early-to-mid December.

But for the Pirates, less than a week after getting decisively blown out at Colorado, a return home to meet a 1-5 non power-conference team is as close as it gets to being a "must-win."

The women's basketball team answered the call as they defeated the Delaware State Hornets, 74-50, on Saturday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium.

Guard Ebonie Williams led the way with 12 points in 32 minutes of action. Forward Kandice Green added 11 points and six rebounds.

Forward Nicole Emery also tallied 10 points in the Hall's sixth win on the year.

Delaware State led about five minutes into the first half, but Seton Hall went on a run to build a 12 point lead at the intermission. The team led the Hornets by as many as 24 in the game's final minute.

Seton Hall also capitalized on 21 Delaware State turnovers and played an efficient run-and-gun set illustrated by a collective 16 assists in the game.

The Pirates will leave South Orange for its next home game as part of a doubleheader in downtown Newark. Seton Hall will meet St. Peter's at the Prudential Center on Saturday afternoon before the men battle Temple in the nightcap.
