The women's soccer team was defeated twice this past weekend, falling to the University of South Florida, 1-0, and Marquette, 3-0.
The team's overall record is now 4-7-1, and they are 0-4-1 in Big East play for the year.
The Pirates faced the Golden Eagles on Sunday Oct. 4.Marquette managed to score three goals, one each by senior Kelly Wepking, sophomore Rachel Sloan and freshman Ashley Stemmeler.
All goals were scored within the first 25 minutes of the game.
That was a deficit the Pirates were not able to overcome.
Rogers made the only attempted shot for the Pirates throughout the afternoon.
Sloan grabbed her first goal of the season in the 14th minute. Teammate junior Lauren Thut was credited with the assist.
The Pirates wrapped up the afternoon with a total of seven shots.
The Golden Eagles had 21, eight of which were on net.
Marquette led the afternoonwith 11 fouls and six corner kicks compared to the Hall's seven fouls and two corner kicks.
Going into the game on Friday Oct. 2 against USF, the Hall was trying to win its first Big East game of the season.
Southern Florida was looking for their first consecutive in conference wins.
It was a night full of physical play for both the Hall and USF.
Overall, the Pirates committed eight fouls while the Bulls had ten of their own, five in each half.
Defense played a big part in the game, as the Hall was only able to put two shots on goal in each half.
USF doubled the Hall's shots in the first half and altogether had 11 shots on goal.
The Pirates were able to keep the score tied at zero going into the first overtime.
Early into overtime however, USF freshman Chelsea Klotz managed to get past freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Pettigrew and score her fourth goal of the season.
It was Klotz' third shot of the game.
Despite the loss, Pettigrew made three saves throughout the night.
"I do personally put a lot of fault on myself after a loss, but we all make individual mistakes," Pettigrew said. "We are a team, so we will win and lose as a team."
USF senior Mallory Lofton-Malachi saved all four shots attempted by the Pirates.
Sophomore Wiebke Balcke finished with two shots.
Senior captain Megan Mills and sophomore Danielle Schulmann each had one.
"These were disappointing losses this weekend," Pettigrew said. "But we'll bounce back from it by working hard and keep doing the same things we've been doing to improve."
The Pirates will return to competition this weekend as they host DePaul at Owen T. Carroll Field on Friday Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
